Dear friend,
When Dr. Joe Malone was pursuing research work in women’s health for his PhD, he was shocked to learn that, among the young college women he was studying, the negative physical, mental, and emotional toll of hook-up culture far exceeded the negative effects of bad campus diets and exercise habits. So significant were the effects of hook-up culture, that Dr. Malone changed his research focus to women’s sexual health. In light of Valentine’s Day this past week, we published the first in a new series by Dr. Malone for Natural Womanhood, on on the biochemistry of sex and the sexes.
Also up this week is something we’ve been working on for a long time, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with you. Gerard Migeon, CEO of Natural Womanhood, recently conducted interviews with dozens of couples who have practiced Natural Family Planning (NFP) in their marriages for 20 to 30 years. Again, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re excited to give our readers a taste of this research, which demonstrates how NFP helps true love flourish within marriages.
All the best,
Grace Emily Stark

| What’s happening in male vs. female brains during sex? After I began researching the sex differences in men and women’s sexual brain anatomy and hormones, and the resulting motivation for casual sex that many young men display, the heartache and heartbreak of the young college women in my interviews and focus groups started to make sense to me (even if I still found these young men’s actions deplorable). | NW Podcast S2 Ep.5: A Midwife Can Do That!? In this episode, Grace and Cassie interview Tiffany and Kelly of Beautiful One Midwifery, a practice based out of Encinitas, CA. In this wide-ranging interview, we discuss the key differences of midwifery care vs. obstetrical care when it comes to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum—learning a lot about the power of women’s bodies in the process. “Your body is not broken,” says the Beautiful One Midwifery website, “it is simply begging you to take it out of the system that neglects and dismisses you as a whole person in need of a holistic approach to health.” Whether you’re a strong proponent of hospital births or home births, there’s plenty to take away from this informative episode about the awe-inspiring work of growing and birthing babies.
