Coming Off the Pill: Eden’s Story

💊

Dear friend,

As promised, this week we’re sharing a new installment in our Coming Off the Pill series! Shortly before she got married, Eden E was prescribed the Pill for pregnancy prevention and to “regulate” her cycle. By the time she stopped taking birth control three years later, her body was forever changed. While she knows some of the damage may be permanent, Eden found empowerment, hope, and healing through fertility awareness and restorative reproductive medicine. She chose to share her story in hopes of encouraging other women to embrace family planning methods that don’t harm the female body.

Through fertility awareness, Eden learned how “everything about my body [made] sense.” A few weeks ago, we highlighted all the things a healthy uterus does, even when a woman is not pregnant or trying to conceive. In our second article this week, Kristen Curran offers a helpful explainer of the most common things that can go wrong with the uterus, from fibroids to prolapse to (gulp!) cancer.

What’s up ahead? You might have noticed an uptick in our pregnancy-related content lately. That’s in part because both Natural Womanhood Editor Grace Emily Stark and I are expecting! Next week’s e-news will answer burning questions about labor and birth, like: What’s the best position for pushing or giving birth? And, can you speed up labor?

Action Item: Many of our readers are moms. What’s the best (or worst) piece of advice you’ve received about pregnancy, labor, birth, or motherhood? Let me know at annemarie@naturalwomanhood.org.

Take care,
