What’s a uterus for, anyway? šŸ¤”

Dear friend,

Every now and then, it’s a good idea to get back to basics. After all, with what passes for “sexual education” in our country andĀ around the world, many people leave formal education with little idea ofĀ howĀ their bodies actually work—and even more importantly,Ā why. That was one of the reasons we started ourĀ FAM BasicsĀ series, which we’re reviving this week with a new installment all about the uterus, aka, the “main stage” of a woman’s menstrual cycle, and the reason why that cycle exists!Ā

In other new content this week, we’re sharing a primer on the important differences between primary dysmenorrhea (period pain) and secondary dysmenorrhea, with a reminder that it matters what the source of one’s period pain is, and that birth control will merely slap a Band Aid on the problem, instead of helping young women get the tailored help they need for optimal health and well-being.Ā

On that note, we’ve got an excellent, brand-new interview up on the website and on ourĀ YouTube channelĀ this week with Dr. Marguerite Duane of FACTS about Fertility, that serves as a primer on fertility awareness methods (FAMs). In this video, we’reĀ answering everything about this exciting area of women’s health—including how it can be used to help monitor, diagnose, and treat reproductive issues—at the most basic level.

Now,Ā friend, I’m willing to bet that as a subscriber to this newsletter, you’re already pretty savvy on FAMs—but I encourage you to watch and share this video as widely as you can (and some of this other “back to basics” type content, while you’re at it!). You never know who might be “FAM-curious” in your circles, but at a loss for where to find easy-to-understand, evidence-based information about thisĀ topic.

All the best,Ā
