Certain supplements (like folic acid, evening primrose oil, and others) are often recommended to couples who are trying to get pregnant, or trying to overcome cycle irregularities like luteal phase defect.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After trying for a baby for over a year, we finally conceived with the help of a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/learn\/natural-birth-control-methods\/#natural-methods\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fertility Awareness Method<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (FAM), also known as a Fertility Awareness-Based Method (FABM) or method of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/learn\/get-started\/#choose-class\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Natural Family Planning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NFP), and with the help of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/learn\/get-started\/#find-doctor\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doctors certified in NaProTechnology<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along our <a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/commonly-asked-questions-about-infertility-an-nw-infertility-faq-causes-treatments-organic-conceptions2020\/\">infertility<\/a> journey using FAM and NaProTechnology, we also learned how to naturally improve our fertility through the use of various dietary supplements, multi-vitamins, and herbs for both men and women. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following are a few supplements that may help you to naturally boost your fertility and your chances of getting pregnant\u2014keeping in mind that you should always consult your medical provider before starting a new vitamin or supplement regimen.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-prenatal-vitamins\"><span id=\"prenatal-vitamins\">Prenatal vitamins<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, you should start taking a prenatal vitamin even before you get pregnant! In her groundbreaking book <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ccli.org\/shop\/fertility-cycles-nutrition-5th-ed\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fertility, Cycles, &amp; Nutrition<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Shannon gives specific examples of vitamins that have been specially formulated to support a woman\u2019s fertility cycle\u2014something that very few vitamins can adequately do. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shannon specifically recommends Optivite PMT (and its male counterpart, Androvite, for men whose wives are trying to conceive), Professional Prenatal Formula, or ProCycle PMS as the most complete multi-vitamins a woman can take to naturally boost her fertility. These vitamins will do a great job of improving fertility\u2014which will prepare your body to conceive and have a healthy pregnancy\u2014but you needn\u2019t wait until you\u2019re thinking about trying for a baby to start taking them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Note: These brands can be found at a few different online retailers, but are generally the most affordable when purchased from the trusted online pharmacy&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kuhar.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Pro-Life Enterprise<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-flax-or-fish-oils\"><span id=\"flax-or-fish-oils\">Flax or fish oils<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both flax oil and fish oils are high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids, which are\u2014you guessed it\u2014<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">essential<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;for good reproductive health for both women and men. It is believed that <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/22978268\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omega 3 fatty acids may help improve<\/a>&nbsp;egg quality&nbsp;and lower inflammation throughout the body, both of which help promote conception and a healthy pregnancy [2]. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Omega 3 fatty acids also may help&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/natural-fertility-info.com\/essential-fatty-acid-fertility\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">improve cervical mucus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> quality (the substance produced by the cervix that nourishes sperm and helps them to reach the egg). In a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/17211965\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">separate study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 53 infertile women were given the nutritional supplement&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywellness.com\/fertilityblend-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fertility Blend<\/a>\u2014a chief component of which is chasteberry extract\u2014and saw an increase in days-per-cycle with elevated basal body temperatures [4].
