Don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-healthy-ovulation-pain-vs-bad-ovulation-pain-when-to-go-to-your-doctor-nbsp\"><span id=\"healthy-ovulation-pain-vs-bad-ovulation-pain-when-to-go-to-your-doctor\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Healthy ovulation pain vs. bad ovulation pain: When to go to your doctor<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:40,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Of course, p<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ain is&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">generally&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">not&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">thought of being<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;good<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;for us<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">n fact, it\u2019s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">often<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;a sign that something is wrong<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">But i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">n th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">case of ovulation,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;I\u2019m not so sure<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;that\u2019s true<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Perhaps we can think of&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">normal&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ovulation pain in terms of \u201chealthy pa<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">in,\u201d similar to the pain we feel when we exercise<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">After all, when&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">our&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">muscles work hard, sometimes there<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;is pain\u2014and it\u2019s not always a bad thing!&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Similarly,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">when a woman\u2019s uterus is contracting as she prepares to give birth<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the pain she feels is<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;precisely because her body is d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">oing what it is supposed to do. Of course,&nbsp;people who exercise regularly know the difference between the \u201cgood burn\u201d you feel during a great workout<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and the feeling of injury<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, and women who have&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">gi<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ven birth before know what normal contractions&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">should<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;feel like<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;That is where trusting&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">that you know&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">your body<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;best<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2014and&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">trusting&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">your&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">instincts\u2014can be an important part of figuring out when something is wrong, and advocating for yourself in the doctors\u2019 office.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Normal mittelschmerz pain is generally not severe, debilitating, or disruptive of your life and activities\u2014and it is never accompanied by a fever. It is also short-lived, usually lasting for less than a day. If you experience severe mid-cycle pain (especially pain so severe as to cause nausea, or make sex incredibly uncomfortable or even painful), it may be a sign of another issue, such as endometriosis or ovarian cysts. If your mid-cycle pain is this severe or disruptive, or if your pain persists or is accompanied by other symptoms like fever, it is likely not healthy ovulation pain, and you should definitely talk to your doctor about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-using-b-irth-control-nbsp-for-mittelschmerz-nbsp\"><span id=\"using-birth-control-for-mittelschmerz\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Using b<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">irth control&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">for mittelschmerz<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:40,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Unfortunately,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">w<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">omen who go to mainstream doctors complaining of pain that occurs every month may be prescribed birth control to suppress ovulation.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;While this may prevent mid-cycle discomfort, it&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">will also interrupt<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;the process of ovulation<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">But g<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">iven that ovulation is a&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/reasons-women-need-periods-estrogen-progesterone-heart-health-heart-disease-risk-2020\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">normal<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, healthy thing for a woman<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;to experience<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, arguably even an essential part of what&nbsp;<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">makes&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">her<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;a woman,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">is<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;suppressing it&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">really<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;the right thing to do<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">?<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Equally troubling is that birth control<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;may&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">mask<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;the symptoms of an underlying disorder (like&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/commonly-asked-questions-about-endometriosis-causes-treatments-cures-napro-technology-a-natural-womanhood-endo-faq-2020\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">endometriosis<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;or&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/does-pcos-cause-depression-infertility-symptoms-19\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">polycystic ovary syndrome<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">),<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;making it harder to detect or diagnose the disorder, and to get<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;real, restorative treatment<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;for it<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;Finally, it must be said that&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">hormonal birth control&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">can<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">affect your body&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwomanhood.org\/10-most-common-birth-control-side-effects-2018\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">other negative ways<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, too<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-determine-whether-your-mittelschmerz-is-normal-or-the-symptom-of-an-nbsp-underlying-disorder-nbsp\"><span id=\"how-to-determine-whether-your-mittelschmerz-is-normal-or-the-symptom-of-an-underlying-disorder\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">How to determine whether your mittelschmerz is normal, or the symptom of an&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">underlying disorder<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:40,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">If you\u2019re experiencing mid-cycle pain or cramping, i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">t\u2019s important to determine that the pain is&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">actually due<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&nbsp;to the egg-releasing process, and not a symptom of a disorder. If you want to be the best expert on YOUR BODY, do what one client of mine does and put abbreviations like \u201cRAP\u201d or \u201cLAP\u201d for right ab pain or left ab pain. Or make up your own appropriate symbols based on where the pain occurred,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ie<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. low back, etc.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">After charting your discomfort, mark when your period starts and stops.
