Les femmes ont occup\u00e9 les tables des vendeurs, qui proposaient principalement des aliments sp\u00e9ciaux pour b\u00e9b\u00e9s, du mat\u00e9riel d'allaitement, des \u00e9charpes de portage ou des livres sur des sujets tels que le co-sleeping et d'autres tendances en mati\u00e8re de maternage naturel. \"Nous sommes intactivistes\", a-t-il expliqu\u00e9. \"Nous ne croyons pas \u00e0 la circoncision des b\u00e9b\u00e9s. Nous pensons qu'ils devraient pouvoir faire ce choix eux-m\u00eames lorsqu'ils sont plus \u00e2g\u00e9s\".<\/p>\n

C'est int\u00e9ressant. Je n'avais jamais entendu parler de l'intactivisme. Comme il s'int\u00e9ressait \u00e0 la pr\u00e9servation du corps et \u00e0 la remise en question de pratiques m\u00e9dicales largement incontest\u00e9es, je lui ai demand\u00e9 ce qu'il savait des m\u00e9thodes fond\u00e9es sur la prise de conscience de la fertilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Lorsqu'il a compris que je parlais d'un moyen d'\u00e9viter une grossesse, il m'a dit qu'il avait tout pr\u00e9vu : il devait subir une vasectomie la semaine suivante. Il avait l'air tr\u00e8s solennel, mais courageux, comme il me l'a dit, tel un chevalier affrontant le dragon pour sauver sa dame.<\/p>\n

Il est int\u00e9ressant de constater que ce jeune homme r\u00e9fl\u00e9chi, qui s'oppose si fermement \u00e0 ce que son fils en bas \u00e2ge subisse une intervention chirurgicale, est celui qui choisit, parmi toutes les options, la vasectomie.<\/p>\n

Cet homme s'effor\u00e7ait manifestement d'\u00eatre \u00e9galitaire et respectueux du corps de sa femme, ainsi que de celui de son fils. Il \u00e9tait un mari solidaire, non seulement pr\u00e9sent \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence sur le maternage naturel avec sa femme, mais \u00e9galement pr\u00eat \u00e0 intervenir h\u00e9ro\u00efquement et \u00e0 prendre le coup \u00e0 sa place, dans un acte de galanterie courageuse. En m\u00eame temps, il \u00e9tait clair pour moi qu'il luttait aussi contre une certaine r\u00e9sistance naturelle, ce qui est compr\u00e9hensible.<\/p>\n

Environ 12% des couples am\u00e9ricains utilisent la vasectomie comme m\u00e9thode de contraception, ce qui se traduit par 175 000 \u00e0 354 000 op\u00e9rations<\/a> par an. Il prend ses responsabilit\u00e9s, il fait sa part dans l'\u00e9quation du contr\u00f4le des naissances. Il n'allait pas demander \u00e0 sa femme de s'en occuper elle-m\u00eame, de modifier chirurgicalement ou chimiquement son propre corps pour qu'il n'ait pas \u00e0 prendre le risque lui-m\u00eame. Apr\u00e8s tout, elle avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 assum\u00e9 toute la partie relative \u00e0 la procr\u00e9ation.<\/p>\n

Il m'a sembl\u00e9 \u00eatre un homme attentionn\u00e9 et r\u00e9fl\u00e9chi, le genre d'homme ouvert d'esprit qui ferait un excellent partenaire de sensibilisation \u00e0 la fertilit\u00e9. Je me suis rendu compte qu'il lui manquait simplement les informations cl\u00e9s qui lui permettraient de pr\u00e9server honorablement son propre corps ainsi que celui de sa femme.<\/p>\n

\"Vous avez encore le temps d'annuler ce rendez-vous\", lui ai-je dit. Je lui ai expliqu\u00e9 que les m\u00e9thodes de connaissance de la fertilit\u00e9 permettent \u00e0 un couple de savoir, sans intervention m\u00e9dicale ou pharmaceutique, quels sont les jours o\u00f9 une grossesse est possible. De plus, lui ai-je dit rapidement alors que sa femme s'approchait et qu'une foule commen\u00e7ait \u00e0 affluer dans la salle, ces m\u00e9thodes offrent une fen\u00eatre \u00e9tonnante sur l'\u00e9tat de la sant\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9sique de la femme. Elles permettent aux femmes de comprendre ce qui se passe dans leur corps et les aident \u00e0 identifier et \u00e0 traiter les causes profondes des d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibres.<\/p>\n

\"C'est tr\u00e8s efficace pour \u00e9viter une grossesse, mais pour bien d'autres choses encore. Il a m\u00eame \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 qu'elle \u00e9tait b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour la relation de couple\", lui ai-je dit. \"Personne n'a besoin de passer sous le bistouri\".<\/p>\n

\u00c0 ce moment-l\u00e0, sa femme s'est approch\u00e9e en fron\u00e7ant les sourcils, et je me suis demand\u00e9 comment elle r\u00e9agirait en apprenant qu'une femme discutait de vasectomie avec son mari.<\/p>\n

Au moins, il le sait maintenant. J'esp\u00e8re que j'en ai dit assez pour l'intriguer. Peut-\u00eatre qu'ils sont rentr\u00e9s chez eux et qu'ils se sont pench\u00e9s sur la question. Peut-\u00eatre ont-ils report\u00e9 son rendez-vous pour avoir le temps d'examiner toutes les options possibles pour garder le corps de tout le monde intact.<\/p>\n

Esp\u00e9rons seulement qu'il a trouv\u00e9 des informations exactes sur l'efficacit\u00e9 des m\u00e9thodes bas\u00e9es sur la connaissance de la fertilit\u00e9. Elles sont largement d\u00e9natur\u00e9es en ligne. Une seule critique n\u00e9gative, fausse ou non, peut suffire \u00e0 d\u00e9courager les \u00e2mes les plus robustes.<\/p>\n
